Natasha Beauchamp

  • Certified Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

Natasha delivered her first baby, a daughter, at only 24 weeks gestation in 2009. Her baby weighed only 1 pound 3 oz.  Natasha’s original feeding plan was to formula feed. Natasha’s decision changed when two RUSH NICU Breastfeeding Peer Counselors came into her room.  As the BPCs shared their personal stories about providing milk for their own premature babies, Natasha recalls how she changed her mind immediately.  The key for Natasha was learning that her breast milk was like a medicine that no one else but she could provide to her baby. Natasha pumped milk for her daughter for 5 months and credits her breast milk as one of the main factors leading to her daughter’s excellent health today.   In 2013, Natasha completed the Rush Mothers’ Milk Club Breastfeeding Peer Counselor training course and joined the RUSH NICU Breastfeeding Peer Counselor team.  Natasha enjoys sharing her personal story and hopes to inspire and support current NICU mothers.
